Exam Invigilator

We are looking for Exam Invigilators to join our team at Lift Sir Herbert Leon and support the smooth, effective running of examinations across the school.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people and can provide a calm, organised and supportive presence during important periods in their education.

About the role

• As an Exam Invigilator, you will work under the direction of the Exams Officer to ensure examinations are conducted correctly and in accordance with Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) regulations.
• Your key responsibilities will include:
• Preparing examination rooms and ensuring they are set up correctly
• Checking student attendance and candidate information
• Distributing examination papers and materials
• Providing clear instructions to students before examinations begin
• Supervising students and maintaining appropriate examination conditions in accordance with JCQ guidance
• Ensuring examination regulations are followed at all times
• Responding calmly and appropriately to queries, disruptions or unexpected situations
• Recording and reporting any incidents to the relevant member of staff
• Collecting examination papers and materials at the end of each exam
• Supporting the safe and orderly arrival and departure of students
• Undertaking reading and/or scribing duties for students where required
• Undertaking tasks as delegated by the exams officer
• You'll play an important role in creating a calm, professional and well-organised examination environment, helping students feel supported while ensuring the integrity of the examination process is maintained.

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone who is dependable, professional and confident working with groups of young people.

You'll have strong communication and literacy skills, follow instructions and schedules accurately, and remain calm under pressure. You'll also be comfortable using your initiative to resolve problems while working within established procedures.

You'll be student-focused, patient, and sensitive to the needs of young people who may require additional support. A high level of integrity and professionalism is essential because examinations are confidential and regulated.

Experience working with children or in an educational setting would be beneficial, as would prior knowledge of examination procedures and protocols, though neither is essential.
