Driven by our maxims

At Lift Schools, our culture is defined by the Lift Schools Maxims; six core principles that guide our ethos and are adapted by each school to serve its unique community.

  • Worldwise: we're cultivating the citizens of tomorrow.
  • Culture: we care about the fundamentals of learning - but we also want learning to be fun.
  • Excellence is a habit: we believe that high expectations lead to high performance.
  • Aim high: we don't make excuses for our pupils, our teachers or our leaders - and we don't want them to make excuses for themselves.
  • Individuals matter: all pupils, no matter their background, beliefs or identity, are equal members of our community.
  • Community and family: we put people at the heart of everything we do.

Our maxims drive our impact toward an excellent education in every classroom, every day. But they aren't just words on a wall - they are lived by our people. Across our network, you will find incredible stories of dedication and innovation that show the profound ways our diverse teams go above and beyond for our students and communities. They are a powerful, daily reminder of why we do what we do.

Our values in action

Every year, we celebrate our values in action through the Modelling Maxims awards, championing  incredible colleagues who bring the Lift Schools' mission and maxims to life.

Since launching in 2024, our awards have received thousands of nominations celebrating colleagues who go the extra mile and make a lasting impact on our students, teams, and school communities. The awards culminate at our Principals' Conference, where shortlisted candidates are invited to a celebratory evening to recognise their amazing work and dedication.

A culture of appreciation

Building a culture of celebration and appreciation is at the heart of what we do here at Lift Schools. From internal shoutouts and LinkedIn spotlights to awards and achievements, we are deeply committed to ensuring our exceptional people are seen, valued, and recognised for the impact they make every single day. Our mission succeeds because of the brilliant individuals in our classrooms and corridors.

If you're looking for more than just your next job, if you're looking for a community rooted in purpose, built on recognition, and dedicated to changing lives, Lift Schools is where you belong.

Together, we can create exceptional schools where every child thrives.

High ambition, high support

At Lift Schools, we pride ourselves on being unapologetically ambitious for our children. Our Lift490 goal serves as both a galvanising force for colleagues and a promise to our students. But we know that high ambition must go hand-in-hand with high support.

Though we are a national network, we are more like a community united in our mission to drive excellence for every child. Our principals and schools receive strong, dedicated support from their Regional Education Directors (REDs) and Regional Executive Principals (REPs).

At the same time, we make sure there are always spaces and opportunities for colleagues to come together, share best practices, troubleshoot challenges, and celebrate our collective learning.

Bringing our network together

While each of our schools has its own identity, joining Lift Schools connects you to a national network of over 35,000 children and thousands of passionate colleagues. Whether in your school, across the trust or at our London office in EdCity, you'll have opportunities to collaborate, learn from others and make an impact on a much larger scale.

Take a look at just a few of the ways our people have connected recently.

Real stories of progression

Our colleagues are the engine room of our success. We know that talent drives performance, which is why we invest in the exceptional people needed to deliver our mission of providing an excellent education for every child, every day.

Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI)

Our schools serve diverse communities, with roughly 37% of Lift Schools students eligible for the Pupil Premium Grant (compared to 25% nationally), and 25% identifying as Black, Asian or from a minority ethnic (BAME) background, (compared to 33% nationally).

To ensure our staff reflects the communities we serve, we actively foster a representative workforce. As of June 2026, 32% of teachers describe themselves as being from a minority ethnic group, which is nearly double the national average of 17%.
