Throughout our hiring process, we keep you informed and supported. From your initial application to your first day, our recruitment team is here to answer your questions and help you feel confident at every stage.
Steps to joining our team
1. Find your place
Explore our current roles to see where you can make the greatest impact. Where possible, we encourage informal conversations and school visits before or during the application process so you can meet our colleagues, experience our culture, and make sure we’re the right fit for you.
2. Tell us about you
Complete our online application form to share your experience, skills and aspirations. We want to know what you’ve achieved, how you can contribute, and how we can support your future professional development.
3. Initial review and screening conversation
A member of our recruitment team will review your application. If you match the role requirements, we may invite you to an informal screening conversation to discuss your motivations and answer any questions about working with us.
4. Shortlisting
Our hiring panel reviews applications against the job description and person specification, considering your achievements, experience and potential.
5. Assessment and interview
This is your opportunity to showcase your strengths.
Depending on the role you apply for, the interview process may include:
- competency-based interviews
- presentations
- practical exercises or work-based tasks
- role-specific assessments
We provide all assessment details in advance so you can prepare with confidence.
6. Conditional Offer
If successful, we will formally offer you the role. We'll guide you through pre-employment checks and onboarding, ensuring you have everything you need for a smooth transition.
Welcome to Lift Schools
From day one, you'll feel welcomed, supported and ready to make an impact.
Tips for a successful application
To help you have the best possible experience, we've put together our top tips for submitting a successful application.
Review the job description and person specification and match your experience to it. Use clear, specific examples to show how you meet the essential criteria - explaining your role, what you delivered, and the final outcome.
Focus on the difference you've made in previous roles. Where possible, include outcomes or achievements that demonstrate your contribution.
Everything we do is guided by our mission to provide an excellent education for every child, in every classroom, every day. Show us how you align with our mission and values.
Tell us exactly what excites you about joining Lift Schools, and what you’re looking for in your next opportunity.
Where available, speak with a Talent Resourcing Partner, attend an information session or visit one of our schools to better understand the role, our culture and whether we’re the right fit for you.
We're interested not only in your skills and experience, but also in who you are. Let your personality, values and strengths come through throughout the recruitment process.
If you choose to use AI to help write your application, that’s fine, as long as your final submission reflects your thinking, experiences and motivation.
So if AI helps you get started, great. But make sure your voice is loud and clear.
Our recruitment process complies with the safeguarding standards in Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) which means we will require detailed information about your employment history and skills. To ensure a smooth application process, please have the following information to hand before you start your application:
- Your full employment / training history from the date you left full-time education to the present, including start and end dates. Please note that we are unable to accept CVs in isolation and all candidates must complete our application form.
- Employment / training gaps - you will be asked to explain any periods not in employment, education, or training.
- Qualification details and dates for all relevant educational, professional, and vocational qualifications.
- Details for at least two professional referees including your current or most recent employer. If you have previously worked with children or vulnerable adults, one referee must be from that organisation.
- Declarations regarding any unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands, or warnings under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (where applicable to the role's exemption status).
If you have any queries regarding the process, our recruitment team will be happy to answer your questions.
