Lift Plumberow is looking for a sports coach (HLTA) to work alongside our teaching team to support high-quality PE lessons, sporting activities and physical development across the school.

You'll help create inclusive and engaging sporting sessions for all pupils, including those with SEND. From planning and supporting PE lessons to encouraging participation, teamwork and confidence, you'll play a valued role in helping every child access and enjoy physical activity.

Working under the guidance of teaching staff, you'll support the assessment of pupil progress and contribute to our wider sporting and enrichment provision.

Key responsibilities

You will:

  • plan and deliver engaging PE lessons and cover lessons where required, making sure all pupils, including those with SEND, can participate fully;
  • work closely with teachers to assess pupil progress, provide feedback and help shape future lesson planning;
  • organise and support extracurricular sports clubs, fixtures, competitions and school sporting events;
  • adapt physical activities to support pupils with SEND and differing physical abilities;
  • create a safe and supportive learning environment, checking equipment and activity areas regularly; and
  • encourage positive sporting behaviour, including teamwork, resilience and sportsmanship across the school.

What we're looking for

You will bring:

  • L2 qualifications in maths and English (GCSE grade 4+ or equivalent), or a willingness to work towards functional skills qualifications;
  • an L3 teaching assistant apprenticeship or equivalent, or a willingness to work towards this qualification;
  • an L3 HLTA qualification;
  • good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with pupils, colleagues and parents;
  • a reflective approach to your work, with a willingness to seek feedback and grow your practice; and
  • patience, empathy and resilience when working with a variety of pupils and situations.

We'd also love to hear from you if you have experience working in schools, knowledge of the primary PE curriculum, or background organising sports clubs and competitions. Could this be the role where you bring your passion for sport and physical development to life every day?
