Are you passionate about helping young people succeed? We're looking for a teaching assistant to join our team and play a vital role in supporting students to access the curriculum, participate fully in learning and achieve their potential.
At Lift Ashingdon, we work in partnership with teachers to improve learning and attainment for every student while promoting their independence, self-esteem and social inclusion. This role provides a real chance to make a difference to young people's lives every day.
If you're ambitious about your career, we support progression through our level 3 and level 5 teaching assistant apprenticeships and Initial Teacher Training programme.
Key responsibilities
You will:
- build an understanding of students' learning needs, including specific SEND needs, to help them access lesson content and achieve learning objectives;
- work in partnership with teachers to plan and deliver high quality lessons, and assess students' learning;
- guide individual and small group targeted interventions, helping students build independent learning skills;
- create positive relationships with students and promote positive behaviours, consistently applying our behaviour policy;
- support the social, emotional, mental health, wellbeing and personal care of all students; and
- work closely with teaching staff, pastoral staff, the SENDCO and parents or carers to support all students' learning.
What we're looking for
We're looking for someone who:
- holds level 2 qualifications in maths and English (GCSE grade 4+ or equivalent), or is willing to work towards functional skills qualifications;
- shows good communication and interpersonal skills, with patience and empathy in interactions with students;
- has a basic understanding of child learning and development, or is willing to learn;
- works collaboratively with colleagues as a trusted team member, providing support when needed;
- stays resilient when faced with challenging situations and manages these professionally; and
- shows a commitment to equality and promoting the welfare and safeguarding of children and young people.
If you don't already have a level 3 teaching assistant qualification (or equivalent) and work 20 hours per week or above, we'll enrol you onto our level 3 Initial Teaching Assistant Training programme. Could this be the right next step for you?
